The first Marine Environment Patrollers flew their pennants in 2006, and today the number of oil spills in Danish waters has been halved. There is no doubt that the Marine Environment Patrollers efforts have had a preventive effect and contributed to this great reduction. With more than 26,000 Marine Environment Patrollers on the lookout at sea, it is simply not possible to dump oil in Danish waters “just by accident”.
The initial Marine Environment Patroller campaign raised considerable awareness about the marine environment, which will be an advantage in future to combat plastic and refuse dumping in Danish waters as well. So why not volunteer as a Marine Environment Patroller. You can make a difference in Danish waters.
